Boys Water Polo Fall Preview

Boys water polo finished last season in third place behind Royal and Agoura, and this year the team is hoping through off-season tournaments and weightlifting, that they will finish above both water polo powerhouses.
To stay in shape during the off-season, the starting players got together and played for a club team, South Coast Aquatics.
“We did this to get the edge over other schools,” senior Cory Page said.
Members on the team enjoyed playing tournaments because they got to play some really strong programs and challenge themselves.
“Last year we focused on individual skills, now we are focusing on team chemistry,” Rogers said. “We don’t have to worry too much about our inside game.”
Both Agoura and Royal lost key starting players.
According to Rogers, in past years some of the players were not focused.
“We have the potential to be a good team. As long as we stay motivated we can go far into CIF,” Rogers said.
Practices have been focusing more on working as one unit and less on individual skill.
The mindset going into the games against Agoura and Royal is better than ever.
“We are going into these games to prove something…. we don’t just want to be that third place team anymore,” Page said.
The Lancers’ first taste of competition is the Conejo Classic Sept. 9, at home.
