Girls Golf Fall Preview

Last season for the girls golf team was magical, with the team going a perfect 16–0 overall. The team has noticed minimal changes from this year to last, and is confident in its ability to repeat.
“[We don’t feel any pressure] but we are practicing harder,” junior Sophia Chen said.
Even though the team finished at the top of Marmonte League standings, they had some bad luck in the CIF draw when the CIF officials made them switch divisions, and got a bad draw. The team hopes it will make it farther in CIF then it did last year.
“We want to do as well as we can and stay undefeated as long as we can and advance as far into CIF as we can,” senior Stacy Mann said.
The biggest league competition for the Lancers will be Royal and Simi Valley. Mann feels they will be the strongest because of the young talent they possess.
Some of the practices have been focused more on the short game.
“I have been stressing the practice of the short game. You can make up a lot of strokes on and off the green,” head coach Rod Stillwell said.
When players are looking for advice, they look to Stillwell.
“He is always a big support system, to whoever needs it,” Mann said.
The team will face off against Simi Valley Sept. 6.
