Who We Are
The Lancer is the publication of the Advanced Journalism class at Thousand Oaks High School with a student population of ~2,200. The print newspaper is published as a student forum nine times per year and the website is updated daily. It is a member of the Journalism Education Association, National Scholastic Press Association and Columbia Student Press Association. Awards include 11 NSPA Best of Show awards highlighted by 1st place Best of Show at the 2011 Minneapolis NSPA/JEA National, 1st place Best of Show at the 2010 Kansas City National Convention, 1st place for Every 15 Minutes special edition, 12 NSPA All-American awards, 2 Gold Crown and a CSPA Silver Crown. The print edition of The Lancer was inducted into the national NSPA Hall of Fame in 2010.
