Rapper, songwriter, and musician Kid Cudi released a new album on January 12th called “INSANO”. His most recent album since 2022 when Cudi released his last album “Entergalactic”. In this new album, there are 21 new songs. In a recent interview with Apple Music Cudi explains that his inspiration for “INSANO” came from rapper Kendrick Lamar, specifically when he watched Kendrick perform on his Paris stop of The Big Steppers tour. What he particularly liked about Kendrick’s show was the crowd’s reaction, and that’s what he wanted for his album, he says that everyone was going crazy, and it lasted throughout the whole show the energy was carried out all the way until the end. Cudi wanted to have this same impact with his music. When asked if he is going to continue to release music after this album, Cudi responded that he has one last album in the works, and he will keep his fans updated. “INSANO” got a lot of mixed reviews ranging from “his career is over” to “one of the most complete albums he’s ever made”. As a Kid Cudi fan myself, I think fans won’t move past “Man On The Moon” one and two. Fans like to compare his new albums to his biggest hits, and can’t get past the fact that he’s doing what he wants now, and what is making him happy. Though his new music may never compare to his best songs, hits are hits for a reason; there’s no topping them. I like that his new music is different and gives a new perspective, Cudi is trying new things, and fans don’t like change.
